Learn all about the big changes that will happen to girls as they go through puberty with the help of Isla and her fun loving cat in this beautifully illustrated and interactive puberty guide.
Written in a social story style with clear, directive and informative language. Includes positive phrasing and repetition and narrated in an inclusive and reassuring tone by the book’s neurodiverse main character, Isla.
This is an excellent book, I would recommend it. It has clear appropriate language about all the main puberty areas. Has beautiful, tasteful illustrations compared with other books on the same topic. Really reassuring and delighted with my purchase.
Really happy with my purchase. This is a great starting point for guiding girls through puberty and has helped my daughter who is aged ten feel a lot less anxious about what is in store. The pictures are really tasteful and the book is put together so well. Would definately recommend.
This is a perfect book to explain puberty to girls, the language is clear and reassuring. The illustrations are gorgeous and the book is also colour coded into five main puberty sections which makes navigation really helpful. There is also a very handy new vocab section and a guide on how to change a sanitary towel which can be cut out and kept. The backing is a bookmark so it is a really nice addition. May daughter loved this. Cannot speak highly enough about this book. Would highly recommend it.
This book has lots of much needed information and I would highly recommend to anyone with girls approaching this stage of their lives. Very helpful.
This book is absolutely fabulous for all girls of different ages to learn everything in a really easy way. The illustrations and the language used make it much easier than other books that I have seen on the market to explain what girls need to know. Thank you for publishing this beautiful book.
I bought this book for my daughter and I think it is amazing. It is very well written and laid out for children with additional needs. The visuals and colour coded pages work really well. I particularly like the way the author has all aspects of puberty separated into chapters with positive pictures of the books characters on each page.
I love this book. It is a well written, puberty positive resource for young girls. The clear language and supportive tone and thoughtful illustrations effectively explain the key changes of puberty in an accessible and reassuring way. The social-story approach is particularly valauble and the inclusion of neurodivergent girls makes this a much needed and welcome addition.
Fantastic book full of beautiful illustrations and practical information. Would highly recommend.
Isla’s world is exactly the kind of book that parents and educators have been waiting for, as they prepare children and students for the many changes to girl’s bodies that come with puberty and beyond. This colourful book is aimed at autistic people and those with intellectual disabilities and would also be ideal for any child or young person learning about bodily changes. The A5 size makes it appealing for an older child and the colour coded sections make it accessible to navigate to the information needed without relying on an index or contents page which suits the target audience very well. That said, the first page features the chapter list again with color coding for those who prefer to explore books this way too. The information in the book is broken into explicit chunks which supports the individual as they prepare for and experience various stages of puberty. All facts and statements are supported with clearly labelled illustrations which are both attractive and age appropriate to the reader. The social story style of writing ensures that the information
shared is fact based, neutral in tone, non judgemental and relevant to the young person. Isla is supported by her trusted adult throughout the book again an essential aspect for the target group promoting safety and privacy as they navigate this new stage of growing up. The author’s lived experience as both a teacher and a parent shines through. You feel a strong sense of love, respect and pride for Isla throughout. I would highly recommend this book to all parents, teachers and care givers particularlyy those supporting autistic young people and those with intellectual disabilities. As a teacher and a parent with almost 20 years experience supporting the target audience for this book, I can say confidently that this resource meets an unmet need for our students in this most vital stage of their development and learning. I eagerly anticipate the equivalent resource for boys.
I would highly recommend this book as it’s very informative. It makes learning about puberty easy. It’s a book ideal for young girls and those supporting them with the different changes that come with puberty. Delighted to have found it.
Would highly recommend this puberty guide for girls. What makes it stand apart from the rest is the colour coded sections, social story style language, interactive illustrations and practical information. would highly recommend.
